 Your visit to Chimay

Located at the gates of the Fagne en the Thiérache, Chimay is a more than 500-year-old principality. You can discover its medieval aspect wandering through its alleys and old stairs leading to the washing-place and to the ramparts.
The Princely Castle, built on the spur overhanging the Eau Blanche River, and the onion dome of the Saints Pierre et Paul Collegiate Church give the town a specific dignity.
Chimay is also surrounded amazing picturesque villages scattered along rivers or nested at the foot of unexpected cliffs. In these villages, you can admire old farms and Maître des Forges 'House (forge owners), churches and rural chapels, fountains and old washing-places.
The Oise River spring near the Scourmont Abbey, the diverse landscapes, the forests and undergrowths with their way-marked footpaths, and the Virelles natural reserve ( Aquascope) are so many great places for the lovers of nature.

A ride on the tourist train gives you the opportunity to discover the main tourist sites of Chimay and Virelles in a nice and resting atmosphere.
